Crews that document an item's condition and its exception in one pass can now capture the photo once and have it count twice. With the new Carry exception photos to item level setting enabled, every photo taken while adding an exception to an item is automatically saved as that item's photo as well β the exception keeps its photo, the item gets its photo, and nobody photographs the same piece of furniture twice.
What's New
- Carry exception photos to item level: a new checkbox in the stage's Exception Settings under Settings β Shipment Type.
- Automatic copy, not a move: when enabled, photos captured or uploaded on an exception are also saved at the item level β the original exception-photo association stays fully intact.
- Every photo carries: if the crew adds multiple photos to an item's exception, all of them come along to the item level.
- Opt-in per shipment type and stage: the setting is configured on the specific stage workflow where you want it β leave it off and the existing behavior is unchanged.
Who This Is For
- Moving companies whose crews are trained to document item condition and exceptions in a single pass
- Crews in the field β one capture instead of photographing the same item at the exception and again at the item level
- Operations and claims managers who want the condition photo attached to both the exception record and the item
- Companies running photo-required exception workflows, where the photo is already being taken anyway
βοΈ How to Configure
- In the Mover Inventory CMS, go to Settings β Shipment Type and open the stage you want (for example, Stage 1 with Add Items To Inventory). Under Exception Settings, check Carry exception photos to item level.

Settings (1) β Shipment Type (2) β the stage's Exception Settings (3) β Carry exception photos to item level (4)
- In the app, the crew adds an exception to an item as usual β selecting the exception type and capturing the required photo.

An exception on the item, with its photo attached
- When the crew reaches Add Photos/Finalize for that item, the exception photo is already there as an item-level photo β no second capture needed.

- Back in the CMS, the shipment's item card shows the carried photo alongside the exception marker β one capture, documented in both places.

Good to Know
- The exception keeps its photo: carrying is a copy, not a move β the photo remains attached to the exception record exactly as before.
- All applicable photos carry: multiple photos on an item's exception all become item-level photos for that item.
- Nothing changes unless you turn it on: the setting is off by default, applies only to the shipment type and stage where you enable it, and other workflows keep their current behavior.
- Pairs well with photo-required exceptions: if your exception workflow already requires a photo, enabling this means the item-photo requirement is satisfied in the same moment.
Available Now
Carry exception photos to item level is available now in the Mover Inventory CMS under Settings β Shipment Type, in each stage's Exception Settings. Turn it on for the workflows where your crews document condition and exceptions together, and every photo starts doing double duty. This one came straight from customer feedback β keep it coming.
