Weβve significantly enhanced Crew Tracking in Movegistics AI by changing how live GPS tracking works behind the scenes.
Previously, GPS tracking was tied to the Supervisor, which meant that if one Supervisor was assigned to multiple active Work Orders, every Work Order displayed the same location. This made it difficult for dispatchers and operations teams to accurately monitor individual jobs.
With Crew Tracking 2.0, GPS tracking is now tied directly to each Work Order, providing more accurate job-level visibility while introducing an improved tracking interface with clearer status indicators and better operational insights.
β¨ Whatβs New?
We've rebuilt how tracking works so the screen always tells you the full story of your day β every job, every status, every pin, and exactly how fresh each GPS signal is.
- π Tracking is now per work order, not per supervisor. Location is saved against each In Progress work order, so a supervisor running multiple jobs produces a separate pin for every job β no more shared locations.
- π Full day's picture by default. The panel shows every work order scheduled for today with its current status β active, completed, and not-yet-started β instead of a blank map between jobs.
- πFreshness timestamps. Every work order card and map pin popup shows when the last GPS signal was received (e.g., "Updated 10 hr ago"), so you can tell a live pin from a stale one at a glance.
- β οΈ Clear answers when the map is empty. An information panel and in-context messages explain exactly why a pin isn't showing, so no one assumes the screen is broken.
- πΊοΈ Status colors on the map. Orange for In Progress, green for Complete, blue for New β matched between the map pins and the work order list.
π₯ Who Is This For?
This enhancement is designed for:
- Dispatchers
- Operations Managers
- Fleet Managers
- Branch Managers
- Anyone responsible for monitoring crews throughout the day
πΊοΈ Your Whole Day on One Screen
Navigate to: Operations β Crew Tracking
The dashboard now displays all Work Orders scheduled for the current day and organizes them by status.
The counter in the top-right shows how many work orders are scheduled for the current date, and the panel groups them into two buckets:

π Active Work Orders
Once the Supervisor starts the Work Order in the Crew App, it automatically moves into the Active section.
Active jobs include:
- π In Progress
- π’ Complete
Each Work Order card displays:
- Work Order Number
- Customer Name
- Assigned Vehicle
- Supervisor
- Service Type
- Current status
- Latest GPS update timestamp (when available)

π΅ New β’ Unassigned to Route
- Jobs scheduled for today that haven't started yet.
- Clicking one shows a reminder that the crew needs to start the job in the mobile app to activate GPS tracking.

π One Pin per Work Order
- This is the core change in V2. Previously, GPS location was stored against the supervisor β so if one supervisor was running several jobs, all of them shared a single location.
- Now the Crew App's GPS updates are saved against every In Progress work order assigned to the logged-in user, and the map draws one pin per work order at its latest saved location.
- Click any In Progress work order card and the map focuses on that crew's truck. The pin popup shows the work order details along with the last-updated timestamp β the exact age of the most recent GPS signal received from your crew.

- Pins are color-coded to match the status badges: orange for In Progress, green for Complete, and blue for New.

π’ Completed Work Orders
Completed jobs remain visible throughout the dayβs tracking view and are clearly marked with a Complete badge, making it easy to distinguish finished jobs from active ones.
π‘ Clear Answers When There's No Signal
A tracking screen is only trustworthy if it explains its gaps. V2 adds specific, in-context explanations for every situation where a pin can't be shown:
- Empty map β if nothing is displayed, an information panel lists the possible reasons: no work orders scheduled for the current date, scheduled work orders lacking GPS coordinates, or crews that haven't updated their status or started tracking.

- Manually created work orders β cards without an "Updated" timestamp are jobs that were never posted to the Crew App, so live GPS tracking isn't available for them. Selecting one shows the explanation directly.

- No live GPS for a tracked job β if the supervisor didn't start the job in the Crew App, never opened the app, or completed the job and closed the app, clicking the work order says so explicitly.

π Good to Know
- π Tracking follows status, not the clock. If a work order's scheduled end time has passed but the job is still In Progress, tracking continues and the pin stays on the map.
- π Timezone-safe. Work order times are stored in UTC, so pin visibility is based on the work order's own schedule β a corporate user in one timezone sees crews working in another without any filtering surprises.
- π GPS comes from the assigned supervisor's device. The supervisor must be assigned to the work order team, logged into the Crew App, and have started the job. Location data refreshes at intervals; if updates stop, the app was typically closed, logged out, or denied location permissions.
